How It Works

The Fitting Process

Fitting takes place at our Peebles garage by appointment. Here's what to expect on the day.

Book an Appointment

Arrive at the Garage

Head to Old Town Garage, Old Town, Peebles (EH45 8JE). Note: Google Maps may show an old address.

Hood Removed & Replaced

Typical fit time is 2–4 hours. MK1/MK2 usually around 2 hours; MK3 can take up to 4 hours. Complications like corroded fasteners may add time. For less common models, we may need to keep your car for more than one day.

Drive Away

Keep the hood raised for approximately 2 weeks to allow the material to settle and stretch onto the frame.

MK1 Hood Clips

Early Mazda MX5s (G or H registration) should have hood clips fitted at the bottom of the B pillar. These prevent the hood snagging. If yours are missing, new clips cost just under £20.

Rain Rail

All Mazda and Honda models have rain rails that may need attention over time. A wet parcel shelf not caused by hood damage usually indicates a failing rain rail. Replacement rails for MK1/MK2 cost up to £150; secondhand options may be available on request.

MK1 Glass Windows

Glass window upgrades for MK1 MX5s are no longer recommended. We suggest plastic windows or sourced MK2 frames as alternatives.
